Jumps / Sprints

I grew up in a “track family” and developed a love for the sport at an early age. I began competing at age 6, focusing on jumps, hurdles, and sprints, when my dad helped start a youth track club in my hometown. I continued competing through high school, and that experience sparked a lifelong passion for track and field.

I have served as the head track coach at Veritas Christian School since 2013 and the head cross country coach since 2020. I also lead Speed Camp, a program focused on developing speed and overall athletic performance. Since 2022, I have coached horizontal jumps with Hotfeet Track Club in Lawrence and provide private coaching for long jump and triple jump athletes. I work with athletes ranging from elementary school through high school seniors. I am a USATF Level 1 Certified Track & Field Coach.

Most importantly, I value the relationships built through coaching. It’s incredibly rewarding to see athletes stay involved in track—whether through coaching, officiating, or mentoring—long after their competitive careers, continuing to share their love for the sport.

Sprints / Throws

My track and field journey began in the third grade at Corpus Christi Catholic School in Lawrence, and by high school, I was competing as a four-year Varsity athlete and captain at Lawrence Free State. My career there was defined by leading my team to a 2020 6A State Cross Country Championship and four consecutive Regional titles, personally medaling in every State track event I entered. My competitive background also extends to the national level, where I consistently tested myself against the best in the country. This includes competing at Nike Cross Regionals (NXR) Heartland and multiple appearances at the USATF and AAU Junior Olympics. At the 2021 AAU Junior Olympics in Houston, I earned triple All-American honors by finishing 6th in both the 800m (1:55.45) and 1500m (4:03.52), while anchoring my relay team to an 8th-place national finish in the 4x800m.

Now specializing in mid and long-distance coaching, I draw from my history as a recruited student-athlete to help runners ages 7–18 reach their full potential. My coaching style is a blend of scientific, reason-based training and a holistic view of the sport; I believe it is essential for athletes to understand the “why” behind every workout to build a sustainable future in running. For my younger runners, I focus on fostering a love for the sport and building healthy habits, such as those that allowed me to transition successfully from a 1:53 800m specialist to a 16:09 5K runner. For the high school age group, I provide the technical expertise and tactical training needed for those chasing personal bests and collegiate recruitment, ensuring every athlete has the tools to succeed in the way they define it.

My greatest passion is giving back to the Kansas running community and helping runners of all levels discover their own strength. Currently a student at the University of Kansas, I continue to push my own limits by training for my first marathon and a 100-mile ultramarathon. This experience helps me empathize with the mental and physical “grind” my athletes face. In addition to our team practices, I offer specialized 1-on-1 training sessions for those looking for individualized programming and deeper analysis. I believe that when training has a clear purpose and passion behind it, every runner can turn their dreams into reality.

“The real purpose of running isn’t to win a race; it’s to test the limits of the human heart.” — Bill Bowerman
